The cutting disc slices through residue and opens the seed trench, working with the seed boot and gauge wheel to ensure accurate seed placement. Worn discs can push residue into the trench, reduce seed-to-soil contact, and accelerate seed boot wear—leading to poor emergence and costly maintenance.
